Does a plumbing business need a license in Indiana?
Indiana issues 5 license classes for plumbers.
Indiana licenses plumbing statewide through the Indiana Plumbing Commission, part of the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. Individuals hold the apprentice, journeyman and plumbing contractor licenses, and a corporation engaged in plumbing contracting holds its own contractor license.
The plumbing business itself must be licensed or registered, not only the people doing the work.
A corporation in the plumbing contracting business must itself be licensed as a plumbing contractor, and to qualify for the corporate license the applicant must already hold an Indiana Plumbing Contractor license. A business filing a certificate of assumed business name must also register that name, address and telephone number with the commission.

The entity filing is separate from anything the license requires. In Indiana it is made with the Indiana Secretary of State. File directly with the state here.
