How to File

  1. 1

    Choose Your New Registered Agent

Select either an Indiana resident with a physical address in the state, or a business entity authorized to provide registered agent services in Indiana. Ensure they're available during normal business hours to receive legal documents.

  2. 2

Obtain Consent from Your New Agent

Get written agreement from your new registered agent before filing. If using a professional service, complete their service agreement. Your new agent must have a physical Indiana address (not a P.O. Box).

  3. 3

File Statement of Change of Registered Agent

Complete and file Form AR-4 (Statement of Change of Registered Agent) with the Indiana Secretary of State. Include your LLC's name, file number, old agent information, and new agent details with their acceptance.

  4. 4

    Pay the Required Filing Fee

Submit the $30 filing fee along with your Form AR-4. You can file online through the Indiana Secretary of State website at https://www.in.gov/sos or mail the form with a check or money order.

  5. 5

    Notify Your Old Registered Agent

Inform your previous registered agent that you've officially changed agents and that they're no longer responsible for receiving legal documents on behalf of your LLC.

  6. 6

    Update Your LLC Records

Update your internal LLC records, operating agreement, and notify banks, vendors, and other business contacts of your new registered agent information as needed.
