Why I Built This Site

When I was forming LLCs for my own businesses, I kept running into the same problem: most guides were either too generic, buried the important state-specific details, or were clearly written just to sell you something. Filing fees, processing times, annual report deadlines — the numbers that actually matter — were scattered across dozens of Secretary of State websites that are notoriously difficult to navigate.

I built MyStateLLC to be the resource I wished existed: free, state-specific, and direct. No vague advice. Exact fees, exact deadlines, exact steps — for every state.

Background

I'm a software engineer and entrepreneur based in New York. Before transitioning into tech — where I've worked as a software engineer at companies including ExecOnline and Couple — I spent years as a commercial real estate professional, closing deals totaling over 100,000 square feet. That background gave me firsthand experience with business formation, entity structuring, and the real costs of operating a business across different states.

I've since founded and operated multiple online businesses across e-commerce, media, and information publishing — including SnackPlushies, CoffeeInformer, and others. Each one required navigating LLC formation, registered agents, annual reports, and tax structure decisions — exactly what this site covers.

What This Site Is (and Isn't)

Important: MyStateLLC provides free educational information only. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and no attorney-client relationship is created by using it. For advice specific to your situation, consult a licensed attorney in your state.

The guides on this site are designed to help entrepreneurs understand the LLC formation process in their state — what it costs, how long it takes, what ongoing requirements apply, and how different business structures compare. We keep them current and state-specific so you're working with accurate information, not generic advice that ignores where you actually live and operate.

How Our Content Is Produced

State-specific LLC data — filing fees, processing times, annual report deadlines, registered agent rules — is sourced directly from each state's Secretary of State office. This factual data is built into our guides and reviewed for accuracy.

The explanatory content throughout the site is AI-assisted and reviewed for accuracy and completeness. We use AI to scale coverage across all 50 states while maintaining the state-specific detail that makes these guides useful. If you spot an error, please contact us.
