How to File

   Choose Your New Registered Agent

   Select a new registered agent who is either a New York resident or a business entity authorized to conduct business in New York. They must have a physical address in the state (not a P.O. Box).

   Obtain Consent from New Agent

   Get written consent from your new registered agent before filing. They must agree to accept service of process and other legal documents on behalf of your LLC.

   Complete Form DOS-1509

   File a Certificate of Change of Registered Agent using Form DOS-1509 with the New York Department of State. Include your LLC's name, new agent's name and address, and the effective date of change.

   Submit Filing with Fee

   Submit the completed form with a $60 filing fee to the New York Department of State at https://www.dos.ny.gov. You can file online, by mail, or in person.

   Notify Your Old Agent

   Formally notify your previous registered agent in writing that their services are no longer needed and provide the effective date of the change.

6. 6

   Update Your Records

   Update your internal LLC records, operating agreement if necessary, and notify banks, vendors, and other important parties of your new registered agent information.
