Does a landscaping business need a license in Kansas?
Kansas runs no single statewide license covering every landscaping business. What applies depends on the work and where you do it.
Kansas issues no state landscaping license and no state contractor license. K.S.A. 12-1557 leaves the licensure of general, building and residential contractors to any county or city that chooses to require it, and a certificate of competency earned on the standard examination designated by K.S.A. 12-1556 is then valid in any other Kansas county or city that licenses those contractors. At state level the Board of Technical Professions licenses landscape architects under K.S.A. 74-7001 et seq.

The entity filing is separate from anything the license requires. In Kansas it is made with the Kansas Secretary of State. File directly with the state here.
