He built MyStateLLC to provide the free, state-specific LLC guidance he wished existed when forming his own companies.
Wise (formerly TransferWise) must verify your business before activating international transfers and multi-currency balances. For a Wyoming LLC, Wise collects the business name as registered in Wyoming, the EIN, a verifiable US business address, and identity information for all beneficial owners holding 25% or more of the company. Wise also requires a description of the business's products or services and cannot accept virtual office addresses as the primary trading address.
In Wyoming the entity behind that check is an LLC created by filing Articles of Organization, which costs $100. Wyoming publishes a turnaround of instant online; up to 15 business days paper. Because Wyoming keeps members and managers off routine public filings, Wise Business has no public state record to match your owner name against, and relies entirely on the identification you upload.
What Wise Business requires, and how a Wyoming LLC meets each
| Requirement | How your Wyoming LLC satisfies it |
|---|---|
| Registered business name | Use the exact LLC name as Wyoming recorded it on your Articles of Organization; it must match your bank account holder name. |
| Employer / Taxpayer Identification Number | Provide your federal EIN (free from the IRS; non-US founders without an SSN must apply via Form SS-4 by fax or phone rather than the online tool) — independent of Wyoming. |
| Business registered and trading address | Use a US street address registered to the LLC in Wyoming (your Wyoming registered-agent or virtual business address), since a PO box is usually rejected. |
| Beneficial owner identity (25%+ owners) | Provide a government ID for each beneficial owner, even though Wyoming names none of them publicly. Wyoming publishes no member or manager, so the platform relies entirely on the ID you upload — names must match your operating agreement. |
| Business registration documents | Upload the Articles of Organization Wyoming returned to you, stamped and approved. |
Wyoming-specific things to watch
- Wyoming keeps both members and managers off routine public filings, but you must still upload beneficial-owner identification directly to Wise Business. State-level anonymity does not exempt you from the platform's KYC. (Neither the Articles nor the annual report requires listing members or managers; only an organizer/signer appears, so ownership stays off public filings.)
- Budget for Wyoming's ongoing LLC costs before projecting your Wise Business margins: Wyoming charges an annual report license tax of $60 minimum ($62 filed online), based on in-state assets; no franchise or privilege tax otherwise.
- Wise Business payouts flow through to your personal return, and Wyoming won't tax them under a personal income tax: Wyoming levies no personal income tax.
Wyoming sales tax & nexus rules for Wise Business sellers
Wyoming charges a 4% state sales-tax rate. Payments through Wise Business are not covered by marketplace-facilitator laws — you collect and remit yourself. Registration is required before your first taxable sale if you have physical presence in Wyoming (an in-state location, inventory, or employees), or once you cross Wyoming's remote-seller economic-nexus threshold of $100,000 in sales in the previous or current calendar year (no transaction-count threshold).
Wyoming's 4% state rate is among the lower rates nationally. Local taxes add 1-2% in most counties. Wyoming does not have a state income tax and does not tax most services or SaaS, making it a straightforward state for technology businesses. Wyoming is an SST member state. Register through Wyoming's Excise Tax Division portal. Note: Wyoming repealed its 200-transaction economic-nexus trigger (effective 2024); only the $100,000 sales threshold now applies.

How to verify your Wyoming LLC on Wise Business
- Registered business name. Use the exact LLC name as Wyoming recorded it on your Articles of Organization; it must match your bank account holder name.

Non-US founders with Wyoming LLCs
Non-US beneficial owners of a Wyoming LLC can verify with a non-US government photo ID instead of an SSN. Wise still requires a real US business trading address, and a Wyoming registered-agent address alone is typically insufficient for that field. Non-US founders should establish a genuine operational address, in Wyoming or wherever the business actually works from, or use a co-working space address.
