For a US LLC, Shopify collects the IRS-registered business name, EIN, a physical US address, and personal information for the account representative and any 25%+ beneficial owners. What Shopify Payments requires from an LLC
- IRS-registered business name. The business name must exactly match your LLC's name as registered with the IRS. A mismatch triggers document review.
- Employer Identification Number (EIN). Your EIN as issued by the IRS. If Shopify cannot verify it automatically, you must upload an SS-4, CP575, or 147c Letter.
- Physical US business address. An official physical address in the United States where business operations primarily occur; proof such as a utility bill or bank statement may be required.
- Owner / representative identity. Legal name, date of birth, SSN or ITIN, and home address for the account representative. For multi-member LLCs, the same details are required for any owner holding 25%+ equity.
- ACH-eligible checking account. A full USD checking account eligible for Automated Clearing House (ACH) transfers. Savings, flex-currency, and wire-only accounts are not accepted.
- Active business phone number. A working phone number for the business, used for account verification and contact purposes.
