Bentonville & Fayetteville

With Walmart HQ in Bentonville, Arkansas has generated an entire ecosystem of retail-tech, supply chain, and consumer goods startups that tap directly into the world's largest retailer as their first customer. No other market in the US offers this kind of enterprise access at the early stage.

Venture Ecosystem

Arkansas's ecosystem is anchored by one exceptional asset: Walmart's Bentonville headquarters. Heartland Ventures and Supply Chain Ventures back retail-tech, supply-chain, and CPG companies with strategic proximity to Walmart's vendor network. The Venture Center in Little Rock runs a nationally recognized fintech accelerator backed by CUNA Mutual and regional banks. Thrive accelerator offers $50K investments to early-stage companies. The University of Arkansas's Brewer Family Entrepreneurship Hub has significantly increased Fayetteville deal flow since 2019. Arkansas Capital Corporation provides SBA lending and direct equity. Most later-stage capital comes from Dallas and Nashville investors who see Arkansas as an underpriced market with genuine enterprise customer access.

Regulatory Climate

Arkansas LLCs pay a $50 formation fee and a flat $150 annual franchise tax due May 1 — one of the most predictable compliance schedules in the country. No calculation on revenue or assets: every LLC pays $150 regardless of size. Arkansas's graduated individual income tax (reduced to 4.7% in 2023, targeting 3.9% by 2025) applies to pass-through LLC income. No gross receipts tax on services. Same-day LLC formation is available for a $25 expedite fee through the Secretary of State's online portal. Members and managers are not required to be Arkansas residents, and registered agents can be any person with an in-state address.
