Does a plumbing business need a license in Vermont?
Vermont issues 3 license classes for plumbers.
Vermont licenses plumbers statewide through the Plumber's Examining Board, which sits within the Department of Public Safety and is administered by the Division of Fire Safety. The plumbing rules apply to all public buildings and to other buildings connected to a public water or sewage system, and owner occupied single family residences that are not on a public water or sewage system fall outside them.
The license attaches to qualified individuals. Vermont does not require the plumbing business itself to hold one.
Title 26 chapter 39 licenses persons and creates no company license. A master plumber is defined as a person, licensed under the chapter, who as a business installs plumbing systems, hires or employs people to do plumbing work, or supervises journey or apprentice plumbers.
