Does a plumbing business need a license in North Dakota?
North Dakota issues 3 license classes for plumbers.
North Dakota licenses master, journeyman and apprentice plumbers through the State Plumbing Board. The requirement reaches any location in the state that has a public system of waterworks or sewerage, and in cities of less than one thousand population and in all rural areas a licensed journeyman plumber may run the plumbing installation business.
The license attaches to qualified individuals. North Dakota does not require the plumbing business itself to hold one.
The board's plumbing applications are for master, journeyman and apprentice plumbers, with no separate company license. A firm, corporation or limited liability company installing plumbing must have a registered and licensed master plumber in charge of the work at all times.
