North Dakota issues no landscaping license and names no landscaping classification. The state's contractor licensing law requires a contractor license from the Secretary of State to engage in the business of construction, repair or alteration of drainage or irrigation ditches and of every other type of structure, project, development or improvement in real or personal property, which reaches landscape construction, when the cost, value or price per job exceeds $4,000. The license is issued in the name on the business registration and is graded Class A through Class D by the largest contract amount the licensee may take.
The landscaping business itself must be licensed or registered, not only the people doing the work.
