He built MyStateLLC to provide the free, state-specific LLC guidance he wished existed when forming his own companies.

A Texas LLC is generally eligible for Wise Business verification — you will need to provide your Certificate of Formation, EIN, beneficial-owner ID, and a valid US business address. Nothing about forming in Texas blocks approval, and nothing about it guarantees approval either: the final call is Wise Business's.

Wise (formerly TransferWise) must verify your business before activating international transfers and multi-currency balances. For a Texas LLC, Wise collects the business name as registered in Texas, the EIN, a verifiable US business address, and identity information for all beneficial owners holding 25% or more of the company. Wise also requires a description of the business's products or services and cannot accept virtual office addresses as the primary trading address.

In Texas the entity behind that check is an LLC created by filing a Certificate of Formation, which costs $300. Texas does not publish a processing time for LLC filings, so treat state approval as the open-ended step in your timeline rather than the Wise Business review. Because Texas names a member or manager on a routine public filing, the owner name Wise Business asks you to confirm is already a matter of public record.

Not legal advice: Verification requirements change, and so do Texas's filing fees and forms. Confirm current platform rules with Wise Business, and current filing rules with the Texas filing office, before you file. Wise Business's requirements were last reviewed 2026-07-21, and Texas's figures on this page come from its own published schedule.

What Wise Business requires, and how a Texas LLC meets each

RequirementHow your Texas LLC satisfies it
Registered business nameUse the exact LLC name as Texas recorded it on your Certificate of Formation; it must match your bank account holder name.
Employer / Taxpayer Identification NumberProvide your federal EIN (free from the IRS; non-US founders without an SSN must apply via Form SS-4 by fax or phone rather than the online tool) — independent of Texas.
Business registered and trading addressUse a US street address registered to the LLC in Texas (your Texas registered-agent or virtual business address), since a PO box is usually rejected.
Beneficial owner identity (25%+ owners)Provide a government ID for each beneficial owner named in your Texas filings. Texas names a member or manager on a routine public filing, so at least one name already matches state records.

Texas-specific things to watch

  • Texas names a member or manager on a routine public filing, so Wise Business's beneficial-owner check will line up with public state records — you still upload a government ID for each owner. (The Certificate of Formation (Form 205) must name at least one governing person (member or manager), a public record; the annual Public Information Report also discloses management.)
  • Texas issues a Certificate of Formation rather than "Articles of Organization." When Wise Business asks for "formation documents," upload your Certificate of Formation.
  • Budget for Texas's ongoing LLC costs before projecting your Wise Business margins: Texas imposes a franchise tax; LLCs under the no-tax-due threshold ($2,650,000 total revenue for 2026-27 reports) owe $0 but must still file an annual Public Information Report.
  • Wise Business payouts flow through to your personal return, and Texas won't tax them under a personal income tax: Texas levies no personal income tax.

Texas sales tax & nexus rules for Wise Business sellers

Texas charges a 6.25% state sales-tax rate. Payments through Wise Business are not covered by marketplace-facilitator laws — you collect and remit yourself. Registration is required before your first taxable sale if you have physical presence in Texas (an in-state location, inventory, or employees), or once you cross Texas's remote-seller economic-nexus threshold of $500,000 in sales in the previous 12-month period.

Texas has one of the highest nexus thresholds at $500,000, giving smaller remote sellers significant breathing room. There is no transaction count. Texas's 6.25% state rate can be supplemented by up to 2% in local taxes (many cities are at the 8.25% cap). Texas broadly taxes SaaS and digital services. Register through the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.

How to verify your Texas LLC on Wise Business

  1. Registered business name. Use the exact LLC name as Texas recorded it on your Certificate of Formation; it must match your bank account holder name.
  2. Employer / Taxpayer Identification Number. Provide your federal EIN (free from the IRS; non-US founders without an SSN must apply via Form SS-4 by fax or phone rather than the online tool) — independent of Texas.
  3. Business registered and trading address. Use a US street address registered to the LLC in Texas (your Texas registered-agent or virtual business address), since a PO box is usually rejected.
  4. Beneficial owner identity (25%+ owners). Provide a government ID for each beneficial owner named in your Texas filings. Texas names a member or manager on a routine public filing, so at least one name already matches state records.
  5. Business registration documents. Upload the Certificate of Formation Texas returned to you, stamped and approved.

Non-US founders with Texas LLCs

Non-US beneficial owners of a Texas LLC can verify with a non-US government photo ID instead of an SSN. Wise still requires a real US business trading address, and a Texas registered-agent address alone is typically insufficient for that field. Non-US founders should establish a genuine operational address, in Texas or wherever the business actually works from, or use a co-working space address.
