He built MyStateLLC to provide the free, state-specific LLC guidance he wished existed when forming his own companies.
Wise (formerly TransferWise) must verify your business before activating international transfers and multi-currency balances. For a Florida LLC, Wise collects the business name as registered in Florida, the EIN, a verifiable US business address, and identity information for all beneficial owners holding 25% or more of the company. Wise also requires a description of the business's products or services and cannot accept virtual office addresses as the primary trading address.
In Florida the entity behind that check is an LLC created by filing Articles of Organization, which costs $125. Florida does not publish a processing time for LLC filings, so treat state approval as the open-ended step in your timeline rather than the Wise Business review. Because Florida names a member or manager on a routine public filing, the owner name Wise Business asks you to confirm is already a matter of public record.
What Wise Business requires, and how a Florida LLC meets each
| Requirement | How your Florida LLC satisfies it |
|---|---|
| Registered business name | Use the exact LLC name as Florida recorded it on your Articles of Organization; it must match your bank account holder name. |
| Employer / Taxpayer Identification Number | Provide your federal EIN (free from the IRS; non-US founders without an SSN must apply via Form SS-4 by fax or phone rather than the online tool) — independent of Florida. |
| Business registered and trading address | Use a US street address registered to the LLC in Florida (your Florida registered-agent or virtual business address), since a PO box is usually rejected. |
| Beneficial owner identity (25%+ owners) | Provide a government ID for each beneficial owner named in your Florida filings. Florida names a member or manager on a routine public filing, so at least one name already matches state records. |
| Business registration documents | Upload the Articles of Organization Florida returned to you, stamped and approved. |
Florida-specific things to watch
- Florida names a member or manager on a routine public filing, so Wise Business's beneficial-owner check will line up with public state records — you still upload a government ID for each owner. (An authorized person signs the Articles, and the annual report lists managers/authorized members on Sunbiz, so management is a public record.)
- Wise Business payouts flow through to your personal return, and Florida won't tax them under a personal income tax: Florida levies no personal income tax.
Florida sales tax & nexus rules for Wise Business sellers
Florida charges a 6% state sales-tax rate. Payments through Wise Business are not covered by marketplace-facilitator laws — you collect and remit yourself. Registration is required before your first taxable sale if you have physical presence in Florida (an in-state location, inventory, or employees), or once you cross Florida's remote-seller economic-nexus threshold of $100,000 in sales in the previous calendar year.
Florida was one of the last major states to enact economic nexus, doing so on July 1, 2021. There is no transaction count threshold — only the $100,000 dollar threshold applies. Florida does not tax most services, making it simpler for consulting and SaaS businesses. The state has no personal income tax, which makes it popular for LLC formation.

How to verify your Florida LLC on Wise Business
- Registered business name. Use the exact LLC name as Florida recorded it on your Articles of Organization; it must match your bank account holder name.
- Employer / Taxpayer Identification Number. Provide your federal EIN (free from the IRS; non-US founders without an SSN must apply via Form SS-4 by fax or phone rather than the online tool) — independent of Florida.
- Business registered and trading address. Use a US street address registered to the LLC in Florida (your Florida registered-agent or virtual business address), since a PO box is usually rejected.
- Beneficial owner identity (25%+ owners). Provide a government ID for each beneficial owner named in your Florida filings. Florida names a member or manager on a routine public filing, so at least one name already matches state records.
- Business registration documents. Upload the Articles of Organization Florida returned to you, stamped and approved.
Non-US founders with Florida LLCs
Non-US beneficial owners of a Florida LLC can verify with a non-US government photo ID instead of an SSN. Wise still requires a real US business trading address, and a Florida registered-agent address alone is typically insufficient for that field. Non-US founders should establish a genuine operational address, in Florida or wherever the business actually works from, or use a co-working space address.
