   Select an individual who is a Montana resident or a business entity authorized to conduct business in Montana. Your new agent must have a physical Montana address (not a P.O. Box) and be available during normal business hours to receive legal documents.

   File a Statement of Change of Registered Agent and/or Registered Office online through the Montana Secretary of State website at sosmt.gov or submit a paper form. Include your LLC's name, current agent information, and new agent details.

   Pay the Filing Fee

   Submit the required $15 filing fee. Online filings can be paid by credit card, while paper filings require a check or money order made payable to the Montana Secretary of State.

   Update Your Records

   Once the change is processed, update your internal LLC records and notify banks, vendors, and other business contacts of your new registered agent information. The change typically becomes effective immediately upon filing.
