Does a cleaning business need a license in Delaware?
Delaware issues no statewide license for a cleaning business. Local registrations and specialty permits can still apply.
Delaware licenses no cleaning or janitorial trade. Chapter 23 of Title 30 enumerates the occupations that carry their own license fee, from amusement conductor to accommodations intermediary, and cleaning is not among them, so a cleaning business falls into the residual annual general service license fee of $75 payable to the Division of Revenue under section 2301(b), a license every unenumerated service business in the state holds rather than a credential for this trade. The same section adds a gross receipts fee of 0.3983 percent on receipts above the statutory monthly deduction, and local governments issue their own business licenses.
