Why Louisiana Has No Veteran LLC Fee Waiver

You pay what everyone pays. The Secretary of State's Commercial Division publishes one Articles of Organization price for a Louisiana LLC, and there is no veteran box on the filing and no exemption in the schedule. The same is true of the annual report. The part worth acting on is timing. Act 921 of the 2026 Regular Legislative Session raises both fees effective October 1, 2026, and the Secretary of State has already published the new schedule. If your formation decision is made and your documents are ready, filing before the changeover costs less. If it isn't made, the difference is small enough that it is a poor reason to rush an entity decision you'd otherwise take another month over. On the licence side there is nothing either way: Louisiana has no statewide general business licence, and no veteran-specific waiver of a state occupational licence fee was confirmed in a primary source.

   The Veteran Initiative, often written as LaVetBiz, is administered by LED and applied for through its Veteran Initiative programme page on opportunitylouisiana.gov. No application fee is stated in LED's published materials, though none is expressly waived either, so confirm with the programme before budgeting for it.

   Update your certification every year

   LED requires an annual update by your certification anniversary date. Let it lapse and you lose the bid advantage at exactly the moment you need it, since evaluation-point preferences are applied against your status on the day the proposal is scored, not the day you first certified.
